Braces

Braces are used to correct crooked and crowded teeth. They can also help with misaligned bites and other jaw problems. With new improvements in dental technology, braces are known to be sleeker, smaller, and more comfortable to wear.

Bad Axe Ortho offers a few different types of braces: traditional, clear, and Invisalign.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are installed using metal brackets that are adhered to the teeth and connected by a wire. We tighten this wire periodically to encourage the teeth to straighten out and align the jaw how we want it.

Clear Braces

Clear braces are very similar to the traditional metal braces. The only difference is that clear braces use a clear bracket instead of metal ones. Since clear braces use a see-through bracket, this type is less noticeable and more popular among adults.

Retainers

What does a retainer do?

A retainer is an appliance that keeps a patient’s teeth in place after being straightened out by braces. The first few months after braces are removed is a critical time period when teeth can shift back to their previous positions. Make sure to follow the orthodontists’ instructions so your teeth don’t relapse.

We offer two different types of retainers: invisible retainer and a Hawley retainer.

Your orthodontist will help you choose the best option when it comes time to decide which one. Typically, it is determined by what you needed braces for and any conditions you may have.

Benefits of Hawley Retainers

A Hawley retainer has many benefits over our invisible retainers but it does come down to preference. A Hawley retainer is more affordable and typically lasts longer than invisible retainers. They can also be adjusted and can be removed easily for eating and oral hygiene.

Benefits of Invisible Retainers

Our invisible retainers, besides being harder to notice, are fitted to your teeth so it stays in place better than the Hawley retainers. They are thinner as well so they are more comfortable to wear on a daily basis.
